The Hale Building

This one’s for you Betsy… When Betsy Gordon had been in Panama for a few weeks, someone asked her which building she worked in on the campus. She told them she worked in the “Hale Building”. There was a long pause. (Hale means “Pull” in Spanish). I also work in the Hale Building and have a chuckle at Betsy’s expense each time I PULL the door open to go to work. (This story told with permission by the original teller)

Please note that I am working on the history of the Hale family and their incredible philanthropy across Latin America. So many buildings, hospitals, supermarkets, etc. bear their name.
